GENEROSITY MEANS THOUSANDS OF SASKATOON CHILDREN WILL STAY WARM THIS WINTER

This year’s Coats for Kids brought in over $10,000 and thousands of winter coats and accessories, adding to the overall 20-year total of more than $360,000 raised and 27,000 winter items collected since it began in 2004. Rock 102 and 650 CKOM host, Mark Loshack (Shack), is one of Care & Share’s board members and was at Saturday’s Collection Day. He tells us how the success of this year’s campaign and the community’s donations
help:

“I love being part of this event every year and seeing the community come together. Saskatoon really helped by collecting thousands of winter items and raising over $10,000… it’s incredible! We all know how harsh
Saskatchewan winters can be, that’s why it’s so important for every child to have proper winter clothing. This is going to make a huge difference in the lives of so many local families.”

Rock 102’s Coats for Kids Collection Day on October 14 had a team of volunteers at Mortgage Intelligence in Stonebridge accepting cash donations and gently used winter jackets and accessories. Cars lined up through
the parking lot to deliver coats and winter items from their vehicles at the drive-thru event. The public response was incredible and shows the spirit of giving from the Saskatoon community. As a result, thousands of children will have warm coats to wear this winter. All donated winter items will be distributed to children in Saskatoon elementary schools through Care & Share
from October 23 to 27.

Care & Share’s mission is to ensure all children have an opportunity to develop their potential: in sports, in school, in culture and in recreation. They strive to build a better community, one kid at a time and give less fortunate children the same opportunities, education, hope and strong role models that every child deserves.
