Blind Melon saved my life ...

It's so crazy for me to think, that Shannon Hoon died at the age of 28. So at 29, I have now out-lived him. And as "worldly" as I am, I mean think of how much a guy like that had been through and seen. Messes with your head man. A big loss for sure. And the music of Blind Melon got me through some tough times in life. I mean I was 16 when I bought "Soup" so right before I really lost my way, (as many of us around that age seem to do). So I'm looking forward to seeing this new re-formed of sorts version of the band at the Roxy Tuesday night. The surviving members looked for a new singer for awhile in the mid 90's there, never found anyone so called 'er quits and each went to do their own thing. Then as the story goes, around 2006-ish, like 10 years after Shannon's death, one of the guys was helping record a guy named Travis Warren, liked his voice, got the other guys back together, and they had found their new man. They did up a new album (which I bought and is really really good) and they'll be here next week. I look forward to saying thanks to one of the bands and music that saved my hide.
Here's a link to their myspace that has some songs from the "new" band on it.
