St. Alvia Cartel: First Post

Hey everyone thanks for checkin out the Saint Alvia Warped Tour blog. Our friends at Rock 102 have been kind enough to share with you our experiences no matter what they may be (good or bad). We will try to keep this honest and on the level and share as many details with you as possible. It may get ugly or it may get awesome. No matter how it gets though, YOU can get it all right here. thanks again for supporting Rock 102 and Saint Alvia. See you in the dust, Ben and The Saint Alvia Cartel.

We met our bus at the good old Burlington Mall July 7th late in the evening. Some of us were late as per usual but everyone was in high spirits. This is the first tour that Saint Alvia has done on a bus so I guess thats pretty exciting for a bunch of dudes who have been sweating our balls off in vans for X amount of years. Now we can drink and drink and no one has to be the designated driver. Our designated driver is however a man named Bert. He's a great guy who has been driving bands around for a long time now. His first tour ever was with Rollins Band and has been kind enough to share with us some great stories.
We are also traveling with Simon from Cash Cow merch design, his employee Joe Young,a girl named Sybelle from Punkradiocast dot com and the one and only Mike Smith of Summer Hero fame has taken on merch duties for this adventure. Needless to say we are full on this rock n roll land barge.
Our first show was in Atlanta and fuck it was hot. Our drummer Matt Richmond is taking on the job of tour manager for us. In his words the first day was so stressful for him it took off a year of his life. With the way he smokes and drinks I only give him until 27 anyway. I guess 26 now.Thats a bummer because he was really starting to grow on me.

DAY 1
Our set in Atlanta was pretty good and we started mixing in some new songs off of our new record which is now officially called "Between The Lines". Its really nice to be able to mix our set up and not have to play the same 12 songs anymore. We met some rad bands, got to watch the Bronx first thing in the morning which was awesome and caught Against Me! who were mind blowing. All in all a great great day.

DAY 2
The second day for us on this tour was Orlando. And we thought Atlanta was hot. It was 102 degrees out and I think we all melted a little bit. I had a few buddies fly in to hang out and catch the show. Our set went well and we had a great crowd. We had some lovely ladies from Montreal in the crowd who were very excited to see some more Canadians this south of the border.
My buddies wanted to catch as many bands as we could so we were all over the park in Orlando. We watched a lot of bands. We caught set from the Street Dogs, Real Big Fish, Bedouin, first half of the Aggrolites, Against Me doing an acoustic set and a few others I can't remember right now. I know the fellas in Saint Alvia went to the nightly BBQ and I went out for the evening with my friends. I somehow ended up at the rankest strip club in all of florida. Its called "Crystals" and the dancers ain't much but the pop corn is great. When I got back to the bus I found Fisher and Mike Smith plastered and everyone else was basically passed out or watching a steven segal movie.

Thats all for now, Ben Rispin, The Saint Alvia Cartel
