Death Of An Icon

It probably shouldn't be so surprising that Michael Jackson has died, given his rumoured health problems and how frail he's looked for the past ten years.

But it's still surreal to see the above image on your TV. I remember thinking, when they announced that he was going to be doing 50 shows in London this summer: I'll believe THAT when I see it. And now he never will.

Two memorable stories from the coverage yesterday... one, listening to Jackson family spokesperson Brian Oxman speak to CNN. He was obviously deep in shock and sadness- but said something that you might hear more about in the next few days. He predicted, you just wait, the circumstances surrounding this death will be made public... and the time leading up to Michael's death will be even more shocking than in Anna Nicole Smith's case.

He said that Michael had problems with medication and all the people around him were enablers, ruining his life. We will probably end up finding out that he was addicted to painkillers. I'm guessing MJ needed something to take the edge off life.

The other story that I find really sad is that one of the dancers who was to perform in Jackson's upcoming tour is from North Battleford.

21-year-old Devon Jamieson was picked out of thousands to be in the group of 12. Now they won't get the chance to get their big break.

Jamieson is said to be devestated. His mom Valerie says her son was rehearsing with Jackson as recently as Tuesday, and he never mentioned any signs of health problems.

RIP to an artist that all other pop artists since have been modelled after... and I'm guessing a few rock artists too.
